BOETHIUS CONSOLATION OF PHILOSOPHY: A CRITICAL APPRAISAL

In the consolation of philosophy, Boethius attempted to personify philosophy as awoman, who converted a prisoner (Boethius) to the Platonic notion of good. Lady Philosophy made Boethius to know that despite the injustice of his imprisonment,there still eists !the highest good" which strongly controls the universe. #ere,attempt was made $y Boethius to apply his reason to human eistence in order tomake sense of eistence in a world which seems to champion evil and defy justiceand goodness. %his paper eamines the views of Boethius in the consolation of Philosophy and makes a critical analysis of these views. &ur methodology ishermeneutic in nature and so is epository, analytic and critical.
