Abstract

This study was designed to determine the Effect of Entrepreneurship Development on Women Graduates of the National Centre for Women Development (NCWD), Abuja. The objectives were to assess the effect of vocational training on women who were trained by NCWD; investigate the relationship between the business knowledge that was gained from NCWD and the sustainability of the businesses; to determine the extent of influence of government’s financial support on the performance of female entrepreneurship in alleviating poverty in FCT. A stratified random technique was used for the study: A questionnaire, of one hundred and ninety (190) copies, was distributed among the respondents. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 25) was used in the analysis of data. Findings indicated that the women received training on various skills which they could establish;
that the women were empowered to run their businesses through the knowledge gained; that this led to the sustainability of their businesses. However, there was no adequate financial support from the government in spite of other challenges the women encountered. Recommendation given in this regard included fair remuneration of their teachers, help from the government as this could enhance their entrepreneurship development.
