IMPACT OF COMMUNITY RESOURCES ON THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE F STUDENTS IN JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY, ABUJA, NIGERIA

Abstract

This study assessed the impact of community resources on the
academic Performance of students in junior secondary schools in Abuja
The study employed a -post factor design Descriptive and inferential
statistics were used a method of analysis of mean and standard
deviation in answering t e research ·questions/ and Testing hypotheses.
Findings revealed that community resources promote Performance in
social studies students exposed to community resources than those not
exposed to community resources. Retention of social studies concept is
better when exposed to instructional community resources than without
community resources. here was a significant difference between the
mean Performance of social studies students taught with
community resources and the ones taught without community
resources. It was recommended that government should provide
conductive learning environment by properly equipping -social studies
community resources la in the classroom to enhance the acquisition of
social studies knowledge attitudes and skills by the students. It
concluded that community resources are effective in teaching and
learning. Government planers and teachers should incorporate
innovative pedagogical strategies and community resources in teaching
and learning of Social Studies.
