One Pager Pre-Election Procedings on the 2015 Nigeria General Elections

Abstract

The 2015 general elections in Nigeria is one of the most keenly contested elections in the history of presidential elections in Nigeria. The high stake either for ‘’change’’ or for ‘’transformation’’ propels non-passive citizens towards making sure they collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and carryout unofficial campaign for the candidate of their choice. The distribution of the PVC across the country shows an average of 70% collection in Muslim dominated north as against an average of 60% collection in middle belt region and the Christian dominated south. Of interest is the low collection of PVC in the two biggest cities in the country (Lagos and Kano states) and which seemingly are strong holds of the APC candidate having 55.4% and 57.5% respectively.
