Potentials of Nano Catalysts for Energy Reduction During Synthesis of Ammonia

Abstract

Ammonia (NH
3
) is one of the fundamental rawmaterials currently in use globally and is the second largestsynthetic chemical product. But the production of NH
3
through the predominant Haber process consumes about 3-5% of the global natural gas produced per annum, approximately about 1-2% of the global energy supply. Theenergy consumption during the synthesis of NH
3
hasimmediate and long term effect on the global energy reserveand the environment. This paper highlights the potentials ofusing Nano catalysts during the synthesis of NH
3
withemphasis on reducing energy consumption and greensynthesis options. The use of Nano catalysts during thevarious stages in the synthesis of NH
3
could reduce energyconsumption and minimize harmful gas emission, while simultaneously improving the efficiency of the output and production
