PRE EFFECT OF TEACHERS STRIKE ACTION ON STUDENTS

The research focused on Effect of Teachers Strike Action
on Students’ Learning in
Senior Secondary Schools in Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory. Theresearcher applied descriptive survey design. The population was 161 SeniorSecondary Schools, 1000 students and 500 teachers (by estimation). The sample for the study involved one hundred (100) students in five (5) selected senior secondary schools. The questionnaire designed by the researcher was used tocollect data for the study. The data collected from the respondents was analysedusing frequencies, simple percentages, mean and chi-square statistics. The resultsof the study revealed that: there are various causes of strike actions embarked byteachers, and that there are measures to solve the negative effects of strikeactions. The researcher due to the findings of the study recommended that government at all levels
should increase teachers’ salaries, pay the salaries
promptly, increase fringe benefits, create enabling environment for learning totake place without interruptions.
