RE-VISITING SUSTAINABLITY AMIDST CHALLENGES IN THE ERA OF SCARCITY AND UNCERTAINTY; A WOMANIST LITERARY BASED PERSPECTIVE

Abstract

The Fourth World Conference on Women at Beijing in 1 995 and developmental trends require to be revisited due to the socio-economic status of societies globally. From academic focus, African Women Literary writers x-rayed gender inequality, issues and challenges affecting women, and the need for women 's empowerment and gender mainstreaming in their works. Globalization promotes integration and interaction among socio-economic structures of societies. The diversity in the socio-economic organization in Africa turns a major trait to people especially the female folk. The representational oppression of women in real life is the main thrust of the feminist literary the0ry. The tenet of it's critical and interpretative analysis is the transformation of contemporary socioeconomic and political system. The paramount mission of this paper is to promote women 's sustainable development in spite of scarcity and uncertainty which characterize African society, explore issues and challenges affecting women literary writers and intellectuals generally, and suggest way forward. This is done in line with the interpretative study of selected African literary works.
