Abstract

This study sought to examine the performance appraisal and employees' performance at Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Abuja. The basis of the research problem is premised on performance appraisal' as the most resented and ·criticized instrument of evaluations among workers. It is believed that, most appraisal evaluators are emotionally biased and subjective by applying different .appraisal standard to different employees thereby resulting to inconsistent unreliable and invalid evaluations of workers. This study is anchored on Locke and Latham {1969) goat setting theory· The study adopted the survey research design. Therefore, primary and secondary sources
of data collections, formed the basis of the study. Thus, the primary data was through the administration of questionnaire, while books, journals, INEC publications and others were used as the secondary sources to corroborate the primary sources.
