THE INSTITUTE AND ENFORCEMENT OF RENT CONTROL IN NIGERIA: AN APPRAISAL

Abstract

This paper examines the relationship between the landlord and tenant particularly on the issue of rent increment and the debate that used to accompany it. The rent control is critically examined stemming from when, how and why a landlord can increase house rent. It also discusses the role of tribunal in the determination of house rent. The various forms of rent control were also examined. The paper also focuses on how a standard rent can be determined and how crises that used to arise as a result of the increment can be solved.
